The University of Murcia’s welcome point
The International Welcome Point of the Universidad de Murcia is the first stop for incoming students, lecturers and researchers. It guides them on accommodation, legal paperwork, Spanish courses and online access, and runs a buddy programme. It is on the second floor of the Edificio Rector Soler, on the Espinardo campus.

Your residence papers
- European students staying beyond three months: the green certificate, with your enrolment, health cover and proof of resources
- Non-EU students: a student visa from a Spanish consulate before travel, then the TIE in Murcia, starting with the huellas
- Everyone: the padrón once you have an address, with your lease or your landlord’s authorisation
- Anyone who needs only the number, for a short stay or a bank: the NIE on its own
Where the student procedures happen
policia.es lists students among the procedures of the Brigada Provincial at Cabezo Cortado, alongside NIE certificates, the EU regime and TIE issuance. Book on the cita previa website as early as you can: the start of term is a busy time.

In Murcia
Students renting in La Flota, El Carmen or near the Espinardo campus register on the padrón with the town hall, then book the EX-18 green certificate, or the toma de huellas at Cabezo Cortado. The welcome services of the UMU and UCAM can tell you what your faculty needs on top.
Questions people ask
I am an Erasmus student for one semester. What do I need?
For a stay under three months, often nothing beyond your ID. For a full semester or more, EU students register for the green certificate, which shows a NIE.
Can I work while I study?
EU students can. Non-EU students on a student visa can work under conditions; check them before you accept a job.
