How the booking goes
Bookings live on the sede electrónica of the public administrations, under the cita previa for foreigners. The site first wants a province, which for you is Murcia, then the trámite that matches your case, such as the EX-18 green certificate for Europeans or the toma de huellas of a non-EU resident’s card, then one of the offices it proposes for it. After your passport details, it shows the free dates, if any, and sends a confirmation with a reference.
Keep that confirmation. It is checked at the door, and the office named on it is the one that expects you, which settles any doubt about where to go.

When the calendar stays empty
Slots are released in batches, not at fixed hours, and they go quickly, especially at the start of the university year and before the summer. An empty screen one morning says nothing about the afternoon.
Widening the search helps. If you live in Molina de Segura, Alcantarilla or Las Torres de Cotillas, the Molina comisaría may have room; along the Mar Menor and the coast, Cartagena is the obvious alternative. Paying someone for a slot is never needed: the booking is free and personal.
Small slips that cost a date
- Picking a procedure that does not match your case, so the desk cannot process it
- Booking with a spelling of your name that differs from your passport
- Arriving without the 790-012 already paid
- Leaving copies at home: originals alone are rarely enough
- Coming without the documents that prove the reason for your request

Is the cita previa free?
Yes. The administration charges nothing for the booking; the only official cost of a NIE is the fee paid with the 790 código 012.
Can I book for my partner or my children?
Yes, but one booking per person: each needs an appointment in their own name, children included. Families often book consecutive slots so that everyone goes in on the same morning.
What if I cannot make it?
Cancel through the same system, so the slot returns to the pool, and book again. Missing it without cancelling simply means starting the search over.
