Extranjería Murcia: where the NIE is handled in the region

Five police offices in the Region of Murcia list NIE procedures: the provincial unit at Cabezo Cortado, in Espinardo, and the comisarías of four towns. Here is what each one handles according to the official listings, with a link to every source so you can check before you book.

The river Segura flowing between stone embankments under the arched Puente de los Peligros (Old Bridge), with the cathedral bell tower rising over the trees of the city centre

Cabezo Cortado: the Brigada Provincial

The provincial unit of the police for foreigners sits on Calle Francisco Alonso Hidalgo Martínez, number 38, at kilometre 388 of the N-301; its phone is 968 989 600. On policia.es its list is the longest in the region: NIE numbers and certificates, EU residents, TIE cards, return authorisations, students, extensions, non-lucrative residence, asylum, cédulas and travel documents. Opening hours are not published.

Cabezo Cortado: the Oficina de Extranjería

Across the same grounds, the Delegación’s foreigners’ office opens on weekdays, 9:00 to 14:00. Its desks handle authorisations, among them arraigo, changes of status and the family cards of form EX-19, and its page warns that police procedures, NIE included, need a cita previa. Small oddity: the Delegación writes the street Alfonso, policia.es Alonso.

The comisarías of the region

  • Molina de Segura, Calle Canarias 2: NIE certificates and assignment, letters of invitation, TIE issuance, the EU regime, return authorisations
  • Cartagena, Calle Menéndez y Pelayo 6: the same five procedures
  • Lorca, Plaza de la Policía Nacional 1: the same five, plus asylum and refugee applications
  • Yecla, Calle Rambla 34: the same five procedures

Getting to Cabezo Cortado

No official page, police or Delegación, explains how to reach the complex by public transport, and we would rather not guess at bus or tram lines. Plan the trip with the route planners of the local operators before the day, and keep the address of your cita previa confirmation to hand.

These listings were read on the official pages in October 2026, and offices do change what they handle. Before you book on the cita previa website, open the source of the office you are aiming for: the confirmation then names the door you will walk through.

Questions people ask

Can I go to any of these offices?

Only to the one named on your cita previa. The booking system shows which offices offer your procedure, so the choice is made when you book.

What are the opening hours of the police at Cabezo Cortado?

policia.es does not publish them. The Delegación’s office next door states weekday mornings, 9:00 to 14:00; in practice, the time on your booking is what counts.

Is there an extranjería office in Cartagena?

Not for authorisations: the Delegación lists only its Murcia office for those. The Cartagena comisaría handles the police procedures: NIE, the EU regime, TIE issuance, letters of invitation and return authorisations.
