Murcia with children: one folder per person

Schools, the health centre and the padrón all ask about the children too. How families moving to Murcia keep every child’s paperwork in step, one folder each.

Families moving to Murcia quickly learn that every member of the household is a separate file. Each child needs their own number, their own form and their own appointment, even when they all go to the office together.

Booking consecutive slots on the cita previa website is the trick most families use: one parent, then the other, then the children, on the same morning. A parent signs for every child and brings the child’s passport.

Bring the birth certificates, with an official translation if they are not in Spanish, and check whether they also need an apostille. They are the proof of who the parents are, and they are asked for again at the town hall.

The empadronamiento is often the first local step. Murcia town hall asks for every child’s passport, or NIE, and for both parents to sign the form. Once registered, ask for a certificate for every member of the family: it is useful at school enrolment and at the residence appointment.

With the padrón done and the numbers assigned, the rest follows: the EX-18 green certificate, or the toma de huellas of a TIE for each person, the health card and, in time, the bank account in the children’s names.
